August YT Recap (3/3)

I have not seen the latest season of love island but I have seen a couple!! I think the relationship between race and the show and how it differs with US/Uk so interesting.

I love this thing where people are addressing the internet audience, trolls and the viewer and asking us to evaluate our own behaviors when it comes to things like cancel culture.

I've compromised a lot of my values in the past for a check. And I really struggled with it. And I've tried to strive to work in environments where I don't have to compromise my morals and beliefs but at some point I realized that I felt like I was going to have to compromise where ever I was.

This reminded me that sometimes I do need to chill. Like, I was never an online vocal hater of ariana but I have in conversation been like "she's a cheater!" like girl get off your moral high horse.

FINALLY there are analysis of MY ERA of coming of age!! I would say that I wasn't a scene kid but I wanted to be and admired them. I think it was really big when I was in middle school. The whole "emo" thing was appealing to me. It's interesting because I feel like my interest in this fashion and ~scene~ was influenced by both the people I knew in real life and internet culture. It's very interesting to see how subcultures and things evolved with the introduciton of the internet.
