Been thinking about this a lot and I think it’s what inspired me to start a digital garden. to slow things down and be more in control of my relationship between myself and media.
Mediums change the way we communicate– the printing press, the moving picture, text messages, social media, all changed the way we communicate by offering new ways of communication
What has social media done to our communication styles?
I’ve been wondering if it was just me, or if the classroom is different post quarantine. I went to college prior to 2020 and I’ve been taking some classes in person recently for funsies. I’ve always taken discussion heavy classes, but it’s felt really different lately, and I’m not sure if it’s the class topic (before 2020, I took classes about film and communication, now I’m taking feminist theory courses, the subject manner is really different and I think more personal). Before 2020, discussions felt like discussions. Now, classroom discussions feel like someone says their piece and thoughts in one cohesive chunk, we nod, and then someone else does the same thing. Does this not resemble a social media feed?
Also this guy is funny and the production is fun!
